.41ct Alexandrite Oval
This is a nice alexandrite oval, representative of natural alexandrites of Russian origin. It is fairly well cut, with a small window and lots of brilliance, but less than perfect symmetry. In sunlight, the moderately saturated color is a rich green. It becomes a rich purple when viewed under a standard incandescent light. This gem readily exhibits nearly 100 percent color change.
The stone has a few feathery inclusions that can be seen with the unaided eye. Inclusions of this type are typical of good quality natural alexandrites, and do not significantly affect the value of the stone.
