.33ct Alexandrite Oval
This is a nice alexandrite oval, typical of natural alexandrites of Russian origin. It is well cut, with a small window. The saturated color is a deep, rich green in sunlight and fluorescent lights, and turns a deep purple with reddish highlights when viewed under a standard incandescent light. This gem readily exhibits nearly 100 percent color change even under very bright "natural" incandescent lights.
The stone contains a few visible inclusions that have no effect on the overall beauty of the gem. Its most striking characteristic is the chatoyant (cats eye effect) sheen that can be easily seen on its surface, which appears in the photos as a slight cloudiness.
