Who Should Use This Service?
Our gemstone faceting and cabochon cutting service is not for everyone. It is intended for those who have a large number of stones to cut, at least 400 to 500 carats or more. Our service is well suited to those who want to build an inventory of good quality, relatively inexpensive gems.
Perhaps it would be easier to list the people who would not find this service suitable to their needs.
First, if you have a very large or very valuable gem, and you want it cut for exceptional beauty and value, you should look for an Artist or Precision faceter. Likewise if you have a relatively inexpensive gem that you want cut for a particular occasion or special purpose. Artist faceters are quite expensive, but they produce gems of a quality that no commercial service can match.
If you have only a few small or inexpensive stones, you will probably find that the fixed shipping and handling charge will raise the actual cost per gem considerably. We will give small customers the same service and quality of workmanship that we give larger customers, but there is nothing we can do about the fixed costs. You may want to consider waiting until you have more stones to reduce the cost per stone of shipping. Another option is to get together with friends and have all your gems cut at the same time.
Our service is ideal for those who want to cut sufficiently large amounts of inexpensive stones like topaz, amethyst, garnet and the like. We are also perfect for anyone with a number of small but valuable stones like ruby, emerald or sapphire, which must be cut well, but would not fetch prices that warrant artist cutting. Generally, a ruby, emerald or sapphire rough smaller than about 2 grams would fit this category.
We are also an excellent choice for people who need large numbers of cabochons cut, from any material.
